The mechanical strength and corrosion resistance of the Duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel is higher than that of austenitic steels and is mainly used  in the chemical and petrochemical sector. Superduplex in addition features high resistance to pitting corrosion and chloride-rich environments.  It is used a lot for offshore Oil & Gas applications.
